He appears in both German and Old Norse literature, although the versions of his stories told by these two branches of the Germanic tradition do not always agree. Originally from England, Saint Sigfrid is credited in late medieval king-lists and hagiography with performing the baptism of the first monarch of Sweden, Olof Skötkonung.
